The CW’s Monday combination of “Star-Crossed” and “The Tomorrow People” once again hold flat in the overnight metered market ratings.

Matching their previous performances, both freshmen posted 0.8 overnight household ratings.

Last week’s 0.8 translated into a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating with 830,000 viewers for “Star-Crossed” and a 0.4 rating with 930,000 viewers for “The Tomorrow People.”

The CW’s Monday broadcasts included the penultimate season one episode of “Star-Crossed” and the season finale of “The Tomorrow People.”

Neither show has yet received a renewal for season two.

Update: Consistent with their performances in the overnight metered market rating, The CW’s “Star-Crossed” and “The Tomorrow People” held flat in the adults 18-49 demographic.

Up slightly to a viewership average of 930,000, “Star-Crossed” nonetheless matched last week’s 0.3 adults 18-49 rating. “The Tomorrow People,” also up marginally in total viewers (to 1.01 million), held tight at a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating.

Monday’s “Star-Crossed” was the penultimate episode of the first season. The “Tomorrow People” airing was the show’s season finale.

With the New York-area baseball coverage removed from the mix, numbers for The CW’s “Star-Crossed” and “The Tomorrow People” were predictably adjusted down in the final Nielsen Broadcast report.

Both maintained the 0.3 adults 18-49 ratings they posted in the fast nationals, but their viewership averages took significant hits.

Up slightly in total viewers from last week’s overall showing, “Star-Crossed” was far from remarkable with a 0.3 rating and 0.81 million watchers.

“The Tomorrow People,” meanwhile, settled at its worst level of all time. Its 0.3 adults 18-49 rating tied a series low, but its viewership average of 0.76 million marked a new one.

Ratings: Star-Crossed 1.10 What Storm Is This That Blows So

While its performance in the overnight metered market ratings was not strong, The CW’s “Star-Crossed” did enjoy a slight rebound from last week’s series low.

After dipping to a low 0.7 overnight household rating last week (which translated into a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating with a series low audience of 0.76 million), “Star-Crossed” perked up to a 0.8 overnight rating Monday. There is no guarantee the uptick will translate into an improved adults 18-49 rating, but as a total audience measure, it does provide optimism that the show will rebound from its series low viewership level.

“The Tomorrow People,” which followed “Star-Crossed,” matched last week’s 0.8 overnight rating.

As evidenced by recent season or series low performances from shows like “Supernatural,” “Arrow,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “Reign,” virtually nothing on The CW has been immune to spring ratings woes. Insofar as they are still seeking season two renewals, however, “Star-Crossed” and “The Tomorrow People” are affected particularly dramatically by the weakness.

While it appears both shows staved off declines this week, it does not appear either show rallied into strong ratings territory.

Update: If the fast national viewership numbers for The CW’s “Star-Crossed” and “The Tomorrow People” seem unusually high, it is because they very likely are inaccurate.

Due to a baseball pre-emption on the New York-area CW affiliate (which also airs nationally on some satellite services), rating and viewership data for the two CW dramas is subject to revision in the finals. Since the local baseball game likely drew better numbers than is typical of The CW series, that adjustment is expected to be a downward one.

That means fans of “Star-Crossed” and “The Tomorrow People” need to hesitate in celebrating improved viewership totals of 1.17 million and 1.12 million, respectively. It is unclear if the show’s respective 0.3 adults 18-49 numbers will also endure adjustments.

Ratings: Star-Crossed 1.09 Some Consequences Yet Hanging in the Stars

Overnight:  Star-Crossed (#5: 0.7/ 1)

As the 2013-14 broadcast season comes to a close, bubble series want to put their best feet forward in the hope of securing renewals. If the overnights are any indication, The CW’s “Star-Crossed” did not make the desired impact this week. Monday’s episode posted a series low 0.7 overnight household rating. The number was down two-tenths from the 0.9 posted by last week’s episode. While there is no guarantee the episode suffered a drop of the same magnitude–or of any magnitude–in adults 18-49 and total viewers, there is similarly no reason to believe it enjoyed a game-changing uptick.

Ratings: Star-Crossed 1.08 An Old Accustom’d Feast – Overnight Ratings Hold Steady

Posted by Raina on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in 1.08 An Old Accustom'd Feast, Ratings | 0 Comments

After weeks of oscillation, The CW’s “Star-Crossed” managed to hold steady in the overnight metered market ratings.

Monday’s episode, the eighth of the show’s inaugural season, matched last week’s 0.9 overnight household rating.

While there is no guarantee the show will precisely match last week’s 0.4 adults 18-49 rating with 1.04 million viewers, the overnight stability again reflects the extent to which the show has found a core household audience.

Whether that core is large enough to warrant a second season remains to be seen.
